This Crispy Skillet Sweet & Sour Chicken is golden, sticky, and full of flavor! Crispy chicken tossed in a glossy sweet and sour sauce with a smoky kick from Midnight Ember chili powder — all made in one pan.
Ingredients
- 500g chicken breast, cubed
- ½ cup cornstarch (plus salt, pepper, and garlic powder)
- 3–4 tbsp peanut oil (for frying)
- ½ cup pineapple juice
- ¼ cup ketchup
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp Midnight Ember Chili Powder
- Optional: green onions or sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Toss the cubed chicken breast in cornstarch mixed with salt, pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated.
- Heat peanut oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken until golden and crispy. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add pineapple juice, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, and Midnight Ember Chili Powder. Stir and let it simmer until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
- Return the crispy chicken to the skillet and toss until every piece is coated in the sweet and sour sauce.
- Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.
